I am certain that you are thinking about something. The real question is: What are you thinking about?
Our thoughts sometimes drift towards pleasant thoughts: Summer fun, a romantic evening, relaxing on the couch, playing a sport or enjoying a hobby.
They can also drift towards negative experiences: Chores that needs to be done, a fight we had with someone, bills that need to be paid, or our health.
The positive side is like climbing a ladder, or pumping water uphill. It takes continuous effort to keep going in that direction.
The negative side is like climbing down the ladder, or like water flowing down a hill because of gravity. It seems effortless in this direction.
It seems that momentum is created in our thinking, spiraling in one direction or the other.
Self-help Guru Denis Waitly has said, “Your thoughts are the previews of the coming attractions in your life." Do you envision a wonderful future? Or are your thoughts constantly focused on all the things that could go wrong?
The freedom to choose our own thoughts is one of the greatest gifts given to each of us by our creator.
What are you doing with this gift?
