Edith Holcomb Gibson

Ode to Edie.

A dear friend lost her Mom recently.

She was a gentle, loving woman, who had many interests and avocations.

None more important than her family; and all pursued with a sense of peace, quiet confidence, love, and passion.

It was my pleasure to have known her.

She had a warm and loving smile for everyone…, despite the bitter cold in the quiet little town of East Granby that day, many of the people who knew her showed up for the beautiful service, acknowledging the impact she had on their life.

Edie taught us all how to celebrate the goodness of life…

And she loved Poetry…

After the church service, Edie had a “tour” set up for us, driving on the winding roads throughout the snow covered hills, past the farm where she grew up and spent a lot of time during her youth , until we reached the church where we had fellowship and a delicious lunch.

The mysteries of life are bewildering sometimes.

As we passed the Holcomb farm, Two horses who were standing still alongside the fence by the road began to run in the snow and join our parade. The beauty and peacefulness of the moment in that tranqil setting is etched in my mind forever.

It was as if Edie’s Spirit had been set free.

Edie loved buttons, and we each took one from her prized collection, symbolic of a special woman who knew the simple pleasures of life and enjoyed sharing the journey with her fellow travelers.

The beginning is the end, and the end is only the beginning.

……………………………

God’s arms are not too short, they reach everybody.

When His are too short, he reaches us through the hands of people like Edie.

Thanks for sharing your gifts with us Edie, we will miss you.

…………………………..

Paradox in life continues to be intriguing.

Black and white, shades of gray.

Grandchildren Bradley and Kim gave a special tribute, showcasing their talents.

Bradley’s double rendition of Taps and Ray C who can see.

Meeting in the middle, until we all meet again…
