Just as you would not build a house without plans, or go on a trip without a map, you will need a game plan. Your business plan will keep you focused on getting what you want, and will help you to organize the resources you will need to give energy and structure to your endeavor.

Ask any contractor who has built a home, and they will tell you they “build it” three times:

  • In their mind
  • On paper
  • In the real world

You will need to do the same if you intend to create a significant business. Additionally, if you consider Robert Kiyosaki’s theory that you need a plan each for survival, comfort, and leisure, you soon realize that you need to “build” your business at least Nine (9) times!

If you consider most expert advice, you will also need plans for different time frames too! (6 months, 2 years, 5 years, etc.) Does this sound like a lot of work? It is. That’s why it helps to build a business around your talents, interests, and passion, rather than just for the “money.”

But take heart, the more time spent planning and thinking and drawing on paper, the faster, easier, and less costly the finished project will be to complete. Making mistakes on paper is incredibly cheaper then mistakes made in the real world!

A well-constructed business plan is your treasure map that shows you the way to financial freedom.
