Image: Time is the essence of life. Don't waste it.

To make progress towards your goals, you will need to make the best use of your time. No matter who you are, there are only 24 hours a day available to you. Obviously, you are not going to devote all your time to working, so we need to figure out how to do the best we can with what we’ve got.

It may help to first identify the most significant areas of interest to you. Besides your job, think about other “roles” important to you: The Internet business you intend to start with a friend, your “Trading/investing” business with your spouse, etc. Also think of your life roles that are important: coaching, volunteer work, family relationships, and travel. Most importantly, take time for yourself to grow as a person or to simply unwind and relax with a good book.

At a minimum, see yourself as having four distinct roles that need nurturing:

  • A private person, continually growing and learning
  • A social person with a life of relationships, filled with activities with family and friends
  • A small business owner (even if your business is currently a job)
  • The CEO of your Investment Business

Strive to continually re-balance your life. You will go through swings when you are often out of balance. Step back, look at the bigger picture, and get refocused.

Choose to work on your high priority items first in each of your major life roles. We must constantly ask ourselves: What needs to be done now, this week, this month, and this year? Plan to do the most important things first, THEN DO THEM.

Only you can structure your time to gain significant traction in ALL areas of your life.
